- Find Your Spot (Even If It’s Busy!): Whether you’re at your desk, stuck in traffic, or simply pausing in the kitchen, find a comfortable seat or simply stand wherever you are. You don’t need absolute silence, just a moment to tune in.
- Settle In & Soften: Gently straighten your back, allowing your spine to lengthen without stiffness. Let your shoulders drop away from your ears, relaxing them completely. If comfortable, gently close your eyes or soften your gaze towards the floor.
- Deep Inhale (Count of 4): Place one hand on your belly. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose for a silent count of four. Feel your belly rise under your hand as your lungs fill with air, rather than just your chest, which indicates a diaphragmatic breath.
- Gentle Hold (Count of 4): Hold your breath gently for a count of four. Notice the natural pause and stillness in this brief moment.
- Slow Exhale (Count of 6): Slowly and completely exhale through your mouth (or nose, whichever feels more natural) for a count of six. Feel your belly fall back down, and actively imagine any tension, worries, or stress leaving your body with the outgoing breath.
- Repeat & Reconnect: Repeat this mindful breathing cycle just two to three more times. That’s it – approximately 60 seconds of focused breath can make a significant difference in shifting your state!
